Concern International is a Christian relief and development organization engaged in activities designed to present the love of Jesus Christ to a hurting world. The needs are met through both short-term disaster relief and long-term projects designed to promote a greater degree of self-sufficiency. Their projects are typically small scale and grass roots in their orientation. Existing programs focus on such areas as public health, church planting, community development and the welfare of children. Concern International has supported Romanian projects for many years.
Concern International has agreed to act as a channel for funding of the Jubilee Association. In order to act in this regard, Concern has assigned Jubilee as a "project". Donation to Jubilee can be done from the USA and internationally by using Concern International. The Jubilee Association is not organizationally a part of Concern International, but works closely in concert with Concern.
Carl Smith has been a commended missionary to Romania for 20 years, and was instrumental in the re-organizational efforts that carried Jubilee through the difficult period of time after the passing of Ron and Sue Bates. In addition to his teaching ministry in Romania, he has been of great assistance to Jubilee, both in personal interaction in Romania and as he shares the reports of the work of Jubilee with those he is in contact with in the US. Carl is commended to the Romanian mission field in general through Concern International, MSC (Canada), and the Christian Workers Foundation. Carl is not a member of the Jubilee board, nor a part of the Jubilee staff. However, he has been of great use to the Lord in helping with the Jubilee Association as it continues to be rebuilt.
